WINTER REGIMEN (SHISHIRACHARYA)

PROPERTIES
- Colder than Hemantha (Pre–Winter)
- Dry (Rooksha) compared to Hemantha due to commencement of Uttharayana (Northern Movement of the Sun)
- Because of excess cold weather (Sheeta), the season is called Shishira
GUIDELINES:
- Oil bath
- Exercise
- Bath, perfumes, fragrant fumigation
- Consumption of soup with ghee
- Usage of sweet, sour, salty food
- Fermented beverages
- Heavy foods made of wheat, rice flour, black gram
- Sugarcane juice
- Cooked rice made of fresh paddy
- Fatty food
- Sesame oil
- Warm water for routine cleaning of hand, mouth, etc.
- Wear winter clothes and use suitable bedsheets to protect from cold weather
- Allow the body to sweat by exposure to sunrays. Always use footwear
- Room heater is recommended to overcome the adverse impact of excessive cold
TRANSITION PERIOD (RITUSANDHI):
During the transition period from one season to the next, the regimen of the existing season is to be changed gradually, in a span of 14 days (7 days of the earlier regimen + 7 days of later regimen).
